The International Legal Partnership (ILP) is a non-profit student international legal assistance clinic based at Osgoode Hall Law School. ILP's mission is to provide global policy, legal regulatory and research assistance in low-income economy countries (LICs).

Our Board of Advisors is comprised of diverse, leading Canadian and international law experts in international trade, tax, business law, health regulation, intellectual property, and other areas of international and comparative law. As well, our partners include non-partisan, non-governmental organizations, international organizations, Canadian-based law firms, and governmental agencies. ILP aims (1) to provide outstanding global policy and regulatory research for LICs through our partnerships and (2) innovative legal cooperative education opportunities for law students conducting research and placed at on-host country locations.

Mission Statement:

  • Promoting the professional growth, education and leadership of LICs in legal research and regulatory development through legal research partnerships.
  • Enhancing the institutional capacity of LICs to respond to regulatory issues in their countries, and their capacity global policy issues including treaty-making negotiations
  • Promoting the rule of law by improving the regulatory frameworks and institutional structures in low-income countries governing commercial issues.
  • Encouraging and stimulating the exchange of views, ideas, information concerning legal research and policy development and North-South and South-South cooperation.
  • Establishing educational legal research programs, employment opportunities and knowledge exchange to promote the balanced advance of legal research and regulation in low-to-middle income economy countries.
  • Stimulating law student interest and professional development in international law and exposing them to international practice contexts through leadership opportunities.
  • Advancing the professional development of law students through international law partnerships including learning opportunities with Canadian and international legal leaders.
  • Enhancing the women's inclusion in legal research, regulation, and global policy in a manner consistent with the standards of the United Nations Millennium Goals.
